An exciting opportunity to become a Macebearer in Wallingford!
Have you ever attended a civic event in Wallingford and wondered who the chap in green is, carrying the Mace?
The Macebearer has a very important and traditional role in Wallingford, attending civic functions and helping to lead and represent the town at special events.
It’s a fascinating role involving only a small number of hours each year, with a modest salary — but one that plays an important part in preserving Wallingford’s traditions and history.
Could you be our next Macebearer?
We’d love to hear from you if you:
· Are already a Macebearer, or have experience in the role
· Have a connection to Wallingford or an interest in its history and traditions
· Are physically able to stand and carry the Mace for extended periods
· Are confident, organised and comfortable directing people at civic events
· Would enjoy being part of an important and historic Wallingford tradition
