There's quite a lot going on in Charlbury.
From allotments and the cemetery to planning applications, community projects and keeping residents informed, the Town Council has a hand in more than you might think.
We're looking for someone to help keep it all running.
You'll work alongside our Town Clerk, taking on a varied mix of administration, correspondence, meeting preparation, financial records and communications. Some days you'll be dealing with residents; others you'll be updating the website, helping with council papers or sorting out the details that make everything else possible.
You'll also help with planning administration, allotments and the cemetery, keeping financial records up to date and making sure the small but important things don't get overlooked.
You don't need to have worked for a council before.
You do need to be organised, comfortable with computers, good with people and happy to get stuck into whatever the day brings. You'll need to write clearly, pay attention to detail, work independently and be willing to learn.
Previous local government experience would be useful, but we're just as interested in people who can bring skills and experience from somewhere else. We'll provide training and support to help you get to grips with how the Council works.
A job that fits around life
The role is 10 hours a week, with flexibility over when those hours are worked. We'd like them spread across at least three days, combining home working with some public-facing office hours in Charlbury.
You'll also need to attend two evening meetings each month – Full Council and Planning Committee. These are included in your contracted hours, not extra.
We're currently looking at new office accommodation, so the exact arrangements for public-facing hours will be agreed with the successful applicant.
