Could you be our Town Clerk/Responsible Finance Officer?

 

You will need to be motivated, proactive, and enthusiastic. Be able to meet deadlines, work on your own initiative, and have some knowledge about working with a local authority.

Burford Town Council is seeking a Town Clerk/RFO to work alongside a forward-thinking and proactive Council.

Burford Town Council has an exciting opportunity to join the Town Council to support the Council in our community work. If you have a genuine interest in helping our forward-thinking [JC1] progressive and energetic Council develop and deliver timely, quality, and innovative services to the local community, this post is ideal.

Burford Town Council is in West Oxfordshire. You will be working alongside 11 Council Members and assisted by an administrative assistant.

You will be based in the Town Council offices, three days a week and required to attend monthly full council meetings generally held on first Wednesday of the month.

Grounds maintenance work is taken care of by two grounds men who you will also be responsible for.

Key Committees are as follows: 

·          Full Council; Policy, Governance and Finance;

·          Planning & Development;

·          Recreation Ground and Pavilion;

·          Traffic Advisory; Flooding and Emergency Action Committee ; and

·       Staffing. 

 

Burford Town Council is also responsible for a Cemetery and a Recreation ground 

This is an exciting time to be joining the Town Council as there are a range of projects being implemented such as a Neighbourhood Plan to engage with community and to help shape the future of Burford.

This is a part-time post of 30 hours, predominantly office based.

The salary for this post is £31,314 - £38,626 National Pay Scale SCP 24-29(pro rata, pay award pending).  The salary will be agreed dependent on your experience.

The position will require the CiLCA qualification, but this can be covered by fully funded training in the first 2 years if required.

Benefits include 23 days annual leave plus two statutory days and bank holidays (increases to 26 days after 5 years’ continuous service). The Council will fund membership of the Society of Local Council Clerks. Offers The Local Government Pension Scheme.
