Assistant Parish Clerk and Operations Officer

Based at Parish Hall Sunnyside, Benson OX10 6LZ
30 hours per week, flexible working including occasional evening meetings.
Salary: £33,143-£34,434pa (NJC PayScale 21-23) pro rata dependent upon experience and subject to pending pay increase.

Benson Parish Council is seeking a motivated, highly organised and proactive individual to join our team in this varied and rewarding role.
About the Council
The Council plays a key role in delivering local services and managing community assets, including many green spaces, allotments and two main buildings with hireable spaces, and a further one to come next year. As an ambitious and forward-thinking authority, it is actively involved in community development, place-making and improving quality of life for residents.
About the Role
The role focuses on managing the hall, hirers and booking system; supporting the grounds team to deliver services for the community; and assisting the Clerk with projects, priorities and events.
We are looking for someone who thrives on delivery, enjoys variety and wants to make a visible difference in a growing and ambitious community. From coordinating projects and improving services to supporting governance and helping deliver major council priorities.
Main responsibilities.
· Manage the Scribe Hall hire booking and invoice system,
· Manage the Halls, customers and external facilities contractors.
· Manage the facilities and staff.
· Support the Halls Committee, who meet every 6-8 weeks.
· Work closely with office and outdoor teams to improve delivery and organisational effectiveness.
· Manage the allotment sites.
· Coordinate delivery of council projects, priorities and services.
· Support community initiatives, events and strategic projects.
· Support the parish clerk in all aspects of Council.

The successful candidate will have
Previous relevant experience within local government, parish councils or a similar governance environment.
Strong administration and organisational skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
The ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
Strong IT skills including Microsoft 365.
A calm, professional and diplomatic approach.
