You are invited to attend an upcoming webinar on the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, also commonly known as Martyn’s Law.
Agenda for the Webinar
Provide an overview of the Terrorism Protection of Premises Act 2025
Outline what it means for all premises and events in scope
Provide information on next steps
Allow time for Q&A’s (where feasible)
Background
The Act received Royal Assent on 3 April 2025, and it is expected that the implementation period will be at least 24 months. This period will enable those responsible for premises and events to have sufficient time to understand their new obligations, and to plan and prepare accordingly. This also allows time for the new regulator function of the Security Industry Authority (SIA) to be established. Whilst there is no legal requirement to comply with the legislation until it comes into force, those that fall into scope may wish to begin considering what they need to do before commencement.
The Government's intent is that those responsible for premises and events in scope can comply with the Act without needing to buy specialist services. The Home Office will publish statutory guidance in advance of the Act coming into force. It is being designed to be easy to follow, needing neither particular expertise nor the use of third-party products or services. This will be supported by engagement activities, such as this webinar, as well as wider communications to aid understanding, during this implementation period.
Helpful materials
Government is committed to supporting those responsible to prepare. The Home Office will build on materials already available on Protect UK to raise awareness. This includes:
an animation setting providing an overview of the Act, available at: Martyn’s Law overview and what you need to know | ProtectUK
factsheets setting out key aspects of the legislation, available here: Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025: factsheets - GOV.UK
We recommend exploring the above materials ahead of the webinar to aid in your understanding of the Act.
