Our Services
Members of Oxfordshire Association of Local Councils (OALC) receive the following services :-
Representation
Members become more closely involved in local issues that impact on all local councils in the county. OALC can lobby on issues raised by individual member councils through the national structures of the National Association of Local Councils (NALC), such as the annual conference. OALC’s representational role is sustained through the overwhelming majority of local councils who are in membership (92%).
OALC has representatives on most of the local strategic partnerships in the Oxfordshire. If your Council wishes to find out more about their work or raise an issue through the OALC representative, please see the details below. The OALC representatives can be contacted via the OALC office.

Information and Advice
Information and advice on a wide range of issues is available through the OALC office by telephone, email or post. We also produce regular Updates which are sent to member councils. These cover Association news, information on key legislation, government proposals, White Papers and other proposals which may affect local councils, local news, and key national and local publications.
Membership of OALC also provides access to the services of NALC, including a wide range of legal advice and briefing notes, as well as legal support on individual cases.
Training opportunities
OALC run a range of training and development activities and events for both councillors and council clerks with our partners in the Oxfordshire Partnership for Local Councils. This includes the county and district councils, Oxfordshire Rural Community Council, and the Society of Local Council Clerks.

Other Services
We also appraise applications for Public Works Loan Board Sanction and promote the Quality Council Scheme. There are three Quality Councils in Oxfordshire:
